Most golfers assume a more expensive ball automatically translates to a lower score, but that is rarely the case for the average player. I have spent time analyzing these designs and customer feedback to find the best value for your game. My goal is to help you stop overpaying for technology you cannot utilize. Let us look at how the Distance+ stacks up against the Honma D1 for your long-game performance.

TaylorMade Golf 2025 Distance+ Golf Balls, Yellow, 1 Dozen | 9.7/10 | View On Amazon |
1. TaylorMade Golf 2025 Distance+ Golf Balls, Yellow, 1 Dozen
This ball earns my top spot because it balances high-velocity performance with a practical alignment aid that actually helps on the green. It functions like a rocket off the face, relying on a speed-focused core to ensure your driver shots carry as far as possible.
I appreciate the inclusion of the Plus Alignment Aid, which simplifies the process of lining up putts. While it offers excellent distance, I find the cover feel is firmer than premium urethane options, which is a common trade-off for this type of construction.
Users frequently report that the increased ball speed is noticeable on their long irons and driver swings.
Many golfers appreciate that the bright yellow cover makes the ball exceptionally easy to track during flight.
The durable cover holds up well against scuffs, even after several rounds of play.

Choosing Between Them
I recommend the TaylorMade Distance+ as the premier choice for the player who wants a balanced design that includes helpful visual aids for putting. If your primary goal is maximizing every yard off the tee, the Honma D1 remains an excellent alternative that excels at generating raw distance for a wide variety of golfers.
You should keep in mind that both of these options are built primarily for length, which means you might sacrifice some of the soft feel and short-game spin found in more expensive, multi-layer balls. Choose the TaylorMade if you value alignment technology, or opt for the Honma if you want a straightforward, distance-optimized ball for your weekend rounds.
